For the past eighteen months we have hosted a monthly event on the First Friday of each month. While the primary goal of the First Friday event is to provide a venue for social interaction among the young and talented professionals in the greater Morgantown area, these events are an exceptional opportunity to create valuable business networks as well as build new friendships. These events also have a positive economic impact on our young professionals because, whenever possible, these events are held at venues owned by young entrepreneurs in our community and offer a way to showcase their business and enlarge their customer base.

Our First Friday events also provide a perfect forum for the Generation Morgantown Speaker Series. One First Friday event each quarter features a guest speaker who is a leader in this community speaking on issues important to our generation. This quarterly event is an exceptional learning opportunity for young professionals as well as an opportunity to meet and interact with influential community leaders in an informal social setting.

Designated First Friday events have a community service component, helping to serve another goal of Generation Morgantown. At certain First Friday events, specific items (such as cans of food, back to school items, personal care items) are collected at the door and provided to local service organizations in need of those items. Not only does this provide our members with a fun and easy way to help those less fortunate in the community, but since the collective donation is made in the name of Generation Morgantown, it is an outward sign of Generation Morgantown's interest in serving its community.
